Haley has worked in child protection / children in need since 2001 when she qualified as a social worker, remaining registered now. She has been using Signs of Safety since that time starting her career in child protection in Gateshead, working in the Referral Duty Team with Viv Hogg (1st Signs of Safety UK Regional Director). The team were working closely with Dr Andrew Turnell developing the use of Signs of Safety within a UK child protection arena. In 2004 Haley presented her casework to the European Brief Therapy Association in Amsterdam through Appreciative Inquiry with Andrew and other colleagues from Gateshead.
Since leaving child protection in 2009 she was then employed in the voluntary sector; the majority of this on secondment to the Local Authority where she has worked as a Senior in a Family Intervention Project, providing intensive family support, targeted to those families identified as part of the Troubled Families Agenda. She has supported the live mapping of cases with multi-agency professionals and families when there has been professional conflict regarding case responsibility and thresholds.
Haley has been providing training within her organisations since 2002 on an informal basis. In 2013 she attended Train the Trainers in order to provide multi agency training to colleagues and partner agencies working together as part of the Troubled Families Agenda and Common Assessment Framework. Haley also supported final year social work students as a Practice Educator.
After attending the 5-day event in Alnwick, Northumberland, UK in 2014 she has further developed her skills in Signs of Safety with a particular interest in Early Help and using the approach across the continuum of services families experience.
Haley became a licensed Signs of Safety Trainer & Consultant in April 2015 and has been involved in providing training to Social Workers and Early Help Practitioners since then. As well as delivering the core 2 & 5 day courses, Haley has been involved in developing and delivering bespoke training packages/workshops to meet specific demands in specialist teams. Haley is passionate about working with families and supporting them towards maintaining independence, and passionate about supporting colleagues to work creatively and effectively within an area of complex procedures, policies and legislation.
