Audrey has worked with vulnerable children and families over a 30 yr period in a variety of roles
within Universal, Early Years, Youth and Early Intervention sector services across London. Audrey is a
qualified Early Years Manager, A1 NVQ Childcare Assessor, Mentor, Bereavement Counsellor, Adult
Teacher, Project manager and has held various training and management roles across voluntary,
private and Local Authority sectors.
Starting her career as a Youth Worker in Brent (London), She has worked in a management or
leadership capacity for over half of her working career. Her passion for working with vulnerable
children and their families has seen her develop numerous projects for children, young people and
their families. These have ranged from developing a local business to support parents returning to
work within her local community, taking a lead role in the development of an edge of care service
for vulnerable young people, coordinating a domestic abuse programme for women and leading on
the development of a pilot project for young women and girls exploring healthy and unhealthy
relationships.
Following the completion of a 2 day Signs of Safety course in 2014, Audrey has been practising this
approach in all areas of her work. Since 2017 she trained to facilitate the Signs of Safety 2 day
programme within a London local authority and has been instrumental in developing bite size Signs
of Safety programmes to all practitioners across Early Help, Social care and Looked after children’s
teams. She has utilised this platform to intentionally develop the Signs of Safety approach to
practitioners involved in complex assessments, continually striving to amplify the voices of children
and their families worked with.
The dynamic and comprehensive Signs of Safety Model has been well established in the local
authority which Audrey currently works full time within. The development the model and how it
aligns with other approaches is something which is being championed in the local authority which
Audrey works in and Audrey is passionate about laying the ground work to demonstrate that Signs of
Safety is not a stand alone model.
Audrey works creatively to develop opportunities and spaces to raise awareness of the adversities
experienced by children, young people and families, acknowledging and validating changes of all
types can be achieved over time within a supportive framework.
