On May 6, Alberta Human Services formally commenced the largest international system-wide implementation of the Signs of Safety.
The implementation of Signs of Safety across Alberta builds on the key directions set by Outcome Based Service Delivery (OBSD) seeking to create a province-wide collaborative approach to practice with both families and agencies. The May 6 launch began with a welcome and prayer by Blackfoot Nation Elder Casey Eagle Speaker and included presentations from Assistant Deputy Minister Mark Hattori, Professor Eileen Munro, Andrew Turnell, Terry Murphy and most importantly seven fantastic presentations from Albertan child protection practitioners describing their use of the Signs of Safety.
Alberta is now well set on the path of the whole province implementing Signs of Safety as the way it does child welfare work across all its services. The province is committed for the long term and will the implementation is being underpinned with clear structural arrangements, comprehensive learning strategies, the strong commitment of leadership and good monitoring and evaluation.
