Mio Kikushima

Mio has worked as a social worker in a municipality since 2007 and then with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Bureau of Welfare and Public Health from 2010 to 2017. After working in several municipalities, she is currently working as a senior social worker at the Nakano Ward Child Guidance Centre. Mio has experience in delivering training in practical experience in child protection, and solution focused approach techniques. Mio leads colleagues in case studies to see where and how Signs of Safety principles could be applied, or done better. Mio would like to continue to help new social workers realise that their work contributes to the wellbeing of the families and children that they work with, and help more seasoned social workers to feel that working with Signs of Safety does not contradict their established practices but actually makes it stronger.
